The news hit me like a ton of bricks when I opened my #LinkedIn account last weekend.
His team had sent me a message with the heartbreaking news of his passing: “It is with great sadness that we inform you of his death.”
How can we ever be prepared for such news?
He was a young, only 52-year-old hotelier – kind, professional, and a true industry leader.
Although we had never met in person, we had built a great professional relationship through LinkedIn over the last couple of years. He was always there, cheering me on, and supporting my posts with positivity. I even had the opportunity to represent him for a job once.
Losing him feels like losing a friend. Kindness – that’s the word he embodied, and his spirit reminded me that it is always an opportunity to be kind.
It’s not about how often you see each other, but the impact you make. His passing serves as a reminder that we should cherish every moment we have with those around us and never take them for granted, regardless of the physical distance that may separate us.
Honestly, the heart knows no distance.
RIP Joao Carvalho
